Job costing
Find out which jobs make you money and which quietly lose it. Materials, hours and subcontractor bills matched back to each job and set against the quote.

How it runs
What we build, step by step.
This is the usual shape. Yours gets built around how your team actually does the job.
- 01
Every cost tagged to a job
Supplier bills, receipts and subcontractor invoices are tagged with the job they belong to as they're entered.
- 02
Hours pulled from timesheets
Labour hours per job are read from your job software or timesheets and costed at each person's rate.
- 03
Compared with the quote
When a job closes, the real costs are set against the quoted price and the margin worked out.
- 04
Jobs that lost money flagged
Any job that came in under your target margin is listed with where the overrun came from: materials, extra visits or hours.
- 05
A monthly margin report
Margin by type of work, by customer and by crew, in one sheet you can sort.
Shown with software we see a lot. If your team uses something else, we build it into that instead.
Built for your business
Same job, different business. We build yours.
Two firms in the same trade rarely run a job the same way. Different software, different steps, different people signing off. We build it for your business, around how your team actually does the job.
Your steps
Built around the order your team already works in, odd exceptions included.
Your software
Runs inside the tools you already pay for, set up the way you use them.
Your rules
Your wording, your limits, your sign-offs. Nothing generic goes out in your name.
You sign off
Your team keeps the final say.
Costs that can't be placed on a job get a question, not a guess. Pricing decisions stay with you.
What it's worth
What those hours add up to.
3 hours a week, over 46 working weeks, is 138 hours a year. At $50 an hour, that’s
$6,900
back in the business, every year.
Typical, not promised.
Before and after
The job, before and after.
How it runs today
Quotes are priced from experience. Once the job's done, nobody adds up the materials, the extra visit and the overtime against the quote, because the costs are spread across supplier bills, timesheets and card receipts. Underpriced work keeps getting quoted the same way.

A month in
You know which jobs and customers pay their way, and the next quote for that kind of work is priced from real costs instead of a gut feel.
FAQ
Our techs don't log hours per job. Can job costing still work?
Partly. If your job software records when techs arrive and leave, that's usually enough. If not, we'll suggest the simplest way to capture hours on the free call.
Is job costing only for trades?
No. Builders, installers, manufacturers and agencies all have jobs or projects with costs to match. Trades just feel it most.
